Eckankar is a religious system introduced by Paul Twitchell. It is said to be based upon an ancient science of soul travel. Soul travel is said to be the ability to raise one's consciousness to higher planes of awareness in order to realize the divine consciousness of one's soul. Sometimes called: "The Religion of the Light" and "The Sound of God". It's name can be accurately translated to mean: "co-worker with God". Eckankar members are called ECKists or ECK chelas (chela means "student").
