Q: What evidence is there that the South American Theft Groups are an organized, sophisticated criminal syndicate?
A:
For one, the FBI has, over the years, partially dedicated resources around the country to fight the SATG in the form of taskforces such as "JAG". Additionally, generations of law enforcement officers have specialized in this area. Currently, there is a multi-agemncy taksforce in South Florida consisting of the FBI, Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement, Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office, and other local municipalities. Lastly, private organizations in the industry such as the Jeweler's Security Alliance, provide training for protection and prevention from the SATG.

Q: What is the "School of Seven Bells"?
A:
Although this cannot be substantiated in the literature, Seven Bells is thought to have once been the training ground for rookie pick pockets. Legendarily, it was located in Bogota, Colombia wherein the trainees were instructed by experienced thieves until their final exam which consisted of having to successfully remove items from a dressed mannequin with bells in the pockets. Other stories hold that pick pockets often have scars on their hands due to razor blades having been in the pockets.
