Finding the Proper Location for Your Site:
  • Conduct a search of the Open Directory for a few keywords that relate to your site. The search results will serve up listings of different categories. Go to those categories and determine which one is appropriate for your site.
  • Be sure to review the subcategory descriptions, if available, to determine whether your site is appropriate to that category or subcategory.
  • Review the site descriptions of the entries in the category to which you intend to submit. Prepare your description in advance. Please do not just send us your META description.

    • If your site relates only to a specific geographic region in China, you should submit to the appropriate Province or Locality category. Doing so will speed up the process of your submission and increase the possibility of your site being accepted.
  • The World/Chinese_Simplified hierarchies.
    • World categories are for sites in languages other than English. Each has a hierarchy of its own. If the site you are submitting is in Chinese, you should submit it to World/Chinese_Simplified

Sites in Chinese_Simplified should be submitted to the appropriate World/Chinese_Simplified subcategory. Anonymous sources of information cannot be included in this category but will be considered for possible inclusion under Arts/Education/Language_Arts/English/English_as_a_Second_Language/Chats_and_Forums/.     Xinjiang

    The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, formerly called Chinese or Eastern Turkestan, lies in the northwest of China, in Central Asia. The area was inhabited by Turkic speaking peoples from the 6th century onwards, and from the 10th century onwards, Islam became the dominant religion. During its history, control of this region shifted between the local population and the Chinese empire. From the late 19th century onwards until 1949, Chinese control of the area was contested by the Russian (later Soviet), and British powers, while the local, mostly Turkic and muslim population struggled for independence.

    Situated on the southeast of China and south of the Yangtze River Delta, the province covers a total continental area of 101,800 square kilometers. It is renowned for its picturesque landscapes.
