- the first Earl of Dorchester, after demolishing the market town of Milton.
- His home, Milton Abbey, is now an independent school, is to the west of the village,
- with a view down the valley to Milborne St Andrew to the south.
- Minor road access is from the A354 road, from Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Winterchurch
- to the south east of the village, in the Winterborne valley running from north to south,
- east of Milton Abbas is represented by Winterborne Stickland, the next parish directly east,
- with Winterborne Houghton directly north east, and Hilton directly north west.
