Milton Abbas is a landscaped village built in the eighteenth century, at the behest of
the first Earl of Dorchester, after demolishing the market town of Milton.
His home, Milton Abbey, is now an independent school, is to the west of the village,
with a view down the valley to  Milborne St Andrew to the south.
Minor road access is from the A354 road, from Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Winterchurch
to the south east of the village, in the Winterborne valley running from north to south,
east of Milton Abbas is represented by  Winterborne Stickland, the next parish directly east,
with Winterborne Houghton directly north east, and  Hilton directly north west.
