Shandong is one of the eastern coastal provinces of China, boardering to Hebei province to the northwest, Jiangsu province to the south and Henan province to the southwest. The province has a population of 90 million (2002) and includes 17 cities and areas on prefectural level.
Harbor city on the Yellow Sea. Largest city and economic center of Shandong province. The city was formerly also known as Tsingtao. Qingdao prefecture has a population of 7.2 million (2002) and is comprised of 7 districts and 5 cities on county level.
