Puddletown is a settlement on the River Piddle, now bypassed by the A35 trunk road north east of  Dorchester.
The River Piddle flows from the north west through Piddlehinton from  Piddletren­thide.
The Piddle continues east through Athelhampton to  Tolpuddle.
North of the A35, the next parish north east is Burleston.
On the A35 south west,  Stinsford parish separates Puddletown from Dorchester
and  West Stafford to the south.
